Frequently asked questions

  • On the first to fourth Sundays
    St George's Birkdale: 7.15am & 9.00am
    St James' Wellington Point: 9.30am

On the fifth Sunday of the month, all three church congregations come together for a joint service at 8am, either at St George’s church or St James church, promoting fellowship and unity in worship.

  • Yes, children are always welcome at any of our services. They are an important part of our church family. Our 9am family service at St George’s particularly caters to children. They have Sunday school during school terms. Children are invited to show us what they have learnt in Sunday School and to play percussion instruments during the last song. We also have a corner of our church available for your children to play or retreat with toys and activities.

  • It’s good to arrive early to find a seat, so we suggest coming 10-15 minutes before the service begins. But if you're running late, don't worry – you're still welcome to join the service.

  • You will be greeted by one of our parishioners who will welcome you to church. You will be guided into the church, and you are free to choose where to sit.

  • The service generally starts with a song or hymn then the priest/person up the front welcomes everyone. A typical service runs for around 50-60 minutes and is a time where we share prayer, listen to scripture, sing songs and listen to the word of God being preached. Most are Eucharist services, where we commemorate the Last Supper with bread and wine.

On most occasions, morning tea follows the service for a time of fellowship.

  • No. You will not be expected to give or be asked to do anything you are uncomfortable with.

The money we collect during the service allows our regular members to help maintain our work in the community, and for ongoing operating costs.

If giving financially is something you would like to do, we thank you for your support, but it is not expected.
