A Message on Australia Day to the Parish of Waterloo Bay
Dear Church in Christ,
On this special occasion of Australia Day, I greet you with joy and thanksgiving.
Today, as we come together as a nation to celebrate, let us also turn our hearts toward God, the source of all blessings.
We are privileged to live in this beautiful land—a land of immense diversity, rich heritage, and abundant resources. It is a gift from our loving Creator, who calls us to be good stewards of the blessings He has entrusted to us. Let us pause to thank Him for the opportunities, freedoms, and natural beauty we so often take for granted.
As we reflect on our shared journey, we must also remember our calling as Christians to build a nation of justice, unity, and peace. We are reminded of the sacred connection to the First Nations people of this land, who have cared for it with wisdom and respect for generations. May we honour their history and culture and commit to reconciliation and love, as Christ teaches us.
On this day, I encourage each of you to:
Pray for our nation, its leaders, and all its people.
Give thanks for the blessings of safety, freedom, and community.
Commit to sharing God’s love and serving those in need, ensuring that Australia continues to be a land of hope for all.
As we celebrate today, let us also remember that our ultimate citizenship is in heaven, and our earthly home is a place to prepare for the eternal joys that God has promised. Together, let us carry the light of Christ into our community and live as witnesses to His goodness.
May God bless each of you and the land we are blessed to call home.
In Christ, Fr. Vijay Davidson
Happy Australia Day
